I just tried to install an Adaptec 2930U in my Starmax 5500. At first the card appeared to work OK - I booted off an IBM Ultrascsi drive in my PCI, but then found that my USB and ethernet cards were dead. So I shut down, reseated the cards and tried to reboot. It wouldn't boot - just got the disk with the question mark. I then booted off the Starmax system CD (off the internal SCSI bus) and was completely unable to detect a drive with Norton or Disk First Aid. I reattached the drive to the internal SCSI bus and successfully booted up. Now when I go into System Profiler *no* PCI cards show up. Not the Adaptec, not my USB card nor my ethernet card. Not even the PCI bridge that connects the last two PCI slots shows up. The only PCI device that appears is the ATI Rage II+. Does anybody have a clue what the hell just happened and if there's any way to get my PCI bus back?
Any help appreciated...
