Not clear on why I'd have to remove the SCSI CDROM to add an IDE
burner...

It's been awhile since I've opened it up, so I suppose this means
there are two IDE ribbon cable connectors on the motherboard (one
normally unused). So two connectors, each can support one device, yes?
