I added an ACARD66 PCI IDE card. It seems to work well except that the HD
would not show up on the desktop until I reformatted it. I specifically
asked the seller about that and they professed that there would be no
problem. It is bootable from the PCI card. Since the second hard disk is my
"backup" I hope it can be read by the original IDE connection or another
Mac if I ever have to use it to rescue or restore files. I was able to
reuse an older hard disk and there is now an IDE connections for more. What
I seem to be out of is power supply lines. I have a SCSI CDRW, an IDE DVD,
and the two IDE hard disks as far as I can tell this uses all the free
power supply lines, is that correct? Are there splitter lines to run two
disks? Is adding another hard disk or Zip going to over tax the power
supply? Generate too much heat? There are all those nice full PCI slots and
things I can add but I don't want to kill the whole setup by adding too
much. I have a SM4000MT w/G3 card, 160 MB RAM SYS OS9.1, rage Orien video
card.
