David- thanks for sharing the info- you gave me some things to think about.
I suspect you're right about the firmware no longer supporting OS9. Maybe I
would be better off getting an older iPod from eBay that would hopefully run
on 9.2, and upgrade to that. You brought up a new issue too- I have
iTunes 1.1, so sounds like I need to upgrade that too. That's a free
download from Apple, I think?
I'm thinking about just buying a cheap Dell desktop and a windows
version iPod as another solution. I have 3 computers in the house already,
but my daughter's taking the iMac with her when she moves next week, and the
PCI slots aren't working in my G3 desktop.
