I keep my computers a long time, I had a LC III before eventually jumping
to the SM 4000MT(604e). Finally time to replace the SM? I love this machine
but not running OSX is an issue, I want to be able to do that to match my
wife's Powerbook and son's ibook. I bought the SM as a refurb and it does
so much, reads DVDs, has CDRW, a fast HD, Rage Orion video card, G3
upgrade, a USB card and works well. But it is time to transition plan. I
can either get a reasonable G4 now that looks to have a long life or try to
hold out for a year or so for a used G5. Dealmac lists a G4800
(http://www.expercom.com/product_detail.html?PRODUCT_ID=240060) for $1,150.
Is this a good price point to jump in or does anyone else have a transition
strategy? I would still like to keep the SM n a network, maybe use it for
backup and keep the one partition with OS7.6.1 and VirtualPC/Win95, I am
not sure how that would work.
