My old Starmax, which now belongs to my nephew & nieces, is experiencing
some startup problems. About half the time, the system will start but it
will not boot. I have confirmed that the hard drive is good. It is not
exhibiting the signs of a bad motherboard battery (date & time are not
resetting). The screen on the monitor comes up but the smiling apple does
not show. This is about 1/3 of the time it is started. I usually have to
do a hard shut down, then unplug and re-plug in the computer to get it to
boot.

I told my sister just to leave the system running, but we all know that
System 9 needs to be restated every so often.

Any suggestions appreciated.

OS 9.1
Newer 260mhz G3
