A minor point, but it has been reported that Linux supports slave drives on the Starmax IDE busses.

And of course a PCI IDE card supports slave drives and gives a nice speed boost too.

The StarMax does not support slave drives--master only. Therefore, you cannot have two drives on the same IDE bus. One way around this is to replace the IDE CD ROM drive with a SCSI one, which frees up another IDE bus.
