Hi Leon. I would be hesitant to do that. Unless you use a well-made, high-priced power 
supply, these things could introduce a lot of noise/ripple into the circuit. Plus, 
often cheap adaptors do not have a well regulated voltage.

However, using the battery in parallel with the adapter might help filter some of that 
noise.
