I would add to this that I have this setup and it works well. There is a passthrough ethernet connector on my Assante router and the cable modem connects directly into the router, and the PC and Mac can also be hardwired or wireless.
I would guess that an Asante or a Belkin wirless PCI "should" work. They mix well with both formats. Ken Martin ================ Michael Welch wrote: Hi David. I cannot address the right card for your StarMax, but instead of funneling everything through the PC, which can be done, instead hook the wireless router up directly to the DSL modem to bypass the PC. Many wireless routers have Ethernet ports in them as well, so then you would hook up the PC to one of those, or put a wireless card in the PC. Much better solution to that end of your idea. I think I would connect the wireless router to the pc with dsl and then install a wireless network card in my Starmax. However, the wireless net cards I've seen don't say they are mac friendly. I have seen the usb wireless connection, but I don't know how well or if that would work with my usb pci card I have installed. > >Any suggestions? > >Thanks, >David ________________________________________________________________ Juno Gift Certificates Give the gift of Internet access this holiday season. http://www.juno.com/give -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[email protected]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
