I'm not sure I understand the statement, but syslog is
installed both
on client and server.
> What OS are you using?
Sorry, we didn't want to repeat ourselves, as that
information was in
the first post.
We use Fedora 7 as server, and Fedora Core 6 as
client.
>Is a firewall in the way?
No. iptables-save and ip6tables-save output says so.
I tried to contact this port from a linux machine
within the private
network, and the port 25150 is open, but it doesn't
get identified as
syslog service, as with port 514 (I believe that this
is based on
reply from machine, and not /etc/services).

--name.
Thanks. We got it working, and just though that that
fact should be
more explicitly stated in the howto.

/var/log/cobbler.
I have discovered that using 'netstat -antp', but only
after realising
that the log folders syslog and kicklog were empty.
Cobbler log just says that it listening on his ports.
I'll try to run iptraf on client and server, to see if
the client is
trying to contact server, and how.
Another question: syslog port is passed as kernel
parameter on the
client. When is the logging supposed to start? Is it
possible that
fedora core 6 default kernel doesn't understand this
parameter? Should
it be passed in uppercase?
