Hi all,

I wrote a script that will add a text field below the status textarea
that allows users to easily shorten URL's right from within the
StatusNet interface without having to visit the site.

However, I need some help integrating this into StatusNet. I will be
writing an article about how the script works on my blog but, I will
need some help to get this integrated into the platform as I am not sure
where the scripts etc. gets added. All help appreciated.

bitly is already supported (along with a number of other url shorteners)
by StatusNet. The default shortener is ur1.ca, but you can change it at
http://identi.ca/settings/other

URL shortening is done automatically by StatusNet. If you try to send a
notice greater than 140 characters, StatusNet will shorten any links using
your preferred shortening service, and put them into your notice, which
will hopefully now be less than 140 characters. This notice, now with
shortened links and less than 140 characters, is what you'll see on the
site.

I hope I understand what you're saying... if not, please do provide more
detail and we'll see what we can do to help.
