I just committed ClientSideShortenPlugin to 0.9.x.

ClientSideShorten causes the web interface's notice form to automatically
shorten urls as they entered, and before the notice is submitted.
A few people at work asked for this functionality, so I just whipped it
up. I'd like to have some feedback on both the idea and the
implementation, and any suggestions on how to improve it. Installation is
very easy - Add "addPlugin('ClientSideShorten');" to the bottom of your
config.php
