It only takes the user to be in one group of the many for it to spam
that group. Someone else sees the post, who is a member of all the
group, and reposts. Over and over it happens, sometimes going to the
group, sometimes not. It's definetly more than once, which is more than
needs to be.

Can you explain the repeat API and how it won't send the post to the
group? Is the identi.ca site using the repeat API? Because, as people
press the button, it reposts the notice to the groups they're members of.

Unfortunately, while groups are great for on-topic discussions, they
see A TON of spam, mostly from RT/RD. It's highly annoying.

evan "check this out! !gnu !linux !ubuntu"
foo "RT @evan check this out! !gnu !linux !ubuntu"
bar "RT @evan check this out! !gnu !linux !ubuntu"
baz "RT @evan check this out! !gnu !linux !ubuntu"

versus

evan "check this out! !gnu !linux !ubuntu"
foo "RT @evan check this out! #gnu #linux #ubuntu"
bar "RT @evan check this out! #gnu #linux #ubuntu"
baz "RT @evan check this out! #gnu #linux #ubuntu"

All it takes is each of those users to be a member of at least one of
those groups, and it gets spammed.
