I've finally managed to compile both Stellarium and my plugin on the Mac
running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 but one weird thing is that all of my
dialogues appear too short. That is to say that controls placed near the
bottom of the dialogue are partially and in some cases almost completely
'cut off' by bottom edge of the dialogue.

I had a look at other plugin dialogues on the Mac and they seem Ok so
the problem appears to lie within my plugin. However, even with this
same plugin, the appearance is consistant between Windows and Linux and
this 'effect' happens only on the Mac. I probably have a couple of
options here including adding some mac specific code that adjusts the
height of the QWidget control for each dialogue or simply extending the
height of each dialogue, but the latter might look odd on the other
platforms. Is this just down to inconsistencies between platforms or is
there likely to be something else going on here? For example, does it
matter whether it is compiled in XCode or QT (I have so far only
succeeded with using the latter)?

In order to compile, I did initially get a failure and a couple of
warnings. The failure is simply solved by removing the refrence to the
sys/signalfd.h from SerialPort.hpp. It would seem that this is no longer
required and commenting it out from the code works fine on both Mac and
Linux and is not relevant to Windows.

With regards to the warnings however, one I believe I can solve, but the
other is about a missing /sw/lib path. I did a Google search on this and
found that this path appears in a lot of things when they are being
compiled but no explanation as to what it is for. On my system this path
is not present. I'm not sure whether I can just create it or whether I
need to install something. In any case, the compiled application still
appears to work as expected.
