The Metropolitan stressed, that “United Europe must not become foreign house for us, we must not live according to foreign laws, which do not correspond with our traditions. (…)We have to look for common points and to carry out a constructive dialogue on all levels, and also on the Church level”. “Taking into account the fact, that Kaliningrad region can very soon become special island inside EU territory, we have to do our best, to avoid isolation of this territory from the whole Russia, moreover to turn this territory into laboratory of Russian-European cooperation”, said Kirill. Recently, Russian Orthodox Church expressed its position on many secular questions, though it has its own problemmes. First of all, the question is about discrepancy between Orthodox and Catholic Church and about publications in different sources of Russian Church’s activities connected with alcohol and tobacco trade. Whether these accusations are well-founded, the court must say, of course, if somebody really raises his hand on Russian Orthodox Church. Though it is not the first duty of the Church to express its position on different problemmes, because such active public life could influence its indisputable authority.
