I'm fairly new to UNIX operating systems but I know enough to get
around and based on suggestions from several people, I'm interested in
trying out OpenSolaris.

Basically all I want is a very stable (and fast!) network file server
that works with my Windows (XP/Vista) machines.

I'm actually a web developer and enjoy learning new technologies so
I'm excited to learn more about OpenSolaris and ZFS.

Anyways, I have a few questions...

1) Are there any guides to setting up CIFS + ZFS on OpenSolaris?
(and/or any guides on setting up OpenSolaris + ZFS by itself?)

2) I'm going to be using a fairly low-end machine: Athlon 1.0 GHz,
512 mb RAM, SATA PCI card (with 3x 400 GB drives). I've been told to
upgrade the RAM to at least 512 MB but aside from that should I have
any problems? Will my CPU be limiting my file serving speed?

Any other thoughts or suggestions for me?

Thanks!

- John
