I had that a lot wiht earlier Netscape versions,sometine I couldn't even
telnet
into the box,but that's Netscape.Since I upgraded to
communicator-smotif-472
(from fozen) I didn't have the problem.

Use apt=get to install communicator and you have to install the java
support as well.
apt-get update
apt-get install communicator-smotif-472
apt-get install netscape-java-472
NOt sure if they're available for slink as well,you can use the Storm
PAckage Manager to browse the web section and install the packages.
