Is pcmcia installed?  "dpkg -l | grep pcmcia"  Do you have Win or DOS
on the box?  3com distributes its configuration utility on line.  Run
that in DOS/Win to verify it's set for the correct irq and ioport.

cat /proc/interrupts /proc/ioports ...
