Hey John, try one of these ideas, and see what you get.
Using the Storm Package Manager...
In the main window, go to Packages > Sources...
You get the Edit APT Package Sources List, and you'll see that the default
sources are all the Stormix FTP locations. Go through and double click on
each item in the list, to set them to disabled. Then create a new sources
item - "Add New" button - and set the URI to /dev/cdrom At that point it's
up to you to noodle around with whatever app packages you want to see via
the "Distribution" pulldown, or clicking on the "Sections" widgets.
Another option is to go through the standard dselect program. Open up a new
terminal window and type in dselect. Dselect is a little less intuitive,
but it works well for Debian installs, and package management. The first
thing you see when you launch is to "Choose the access method to use."
Hitting enter will give you another list, and you can then select whatever
method you would like.
You may need to perform your installs as Root, so that you can mount drives,
etc... Just be very careful to look at the dependencies for the packages
you want to install so that you don't accidentally delete a necessary
library 'er sumthin.
As for your Acrobat Reader issue, I've never played there, so I must admit
I'm sorry that I can't help with that.
Good luck,
Sak.
