The problem with the current newsgroup, alt.linux.stormix, is that due to
bad planning on behalf of the person that issue the newgroup post, an
rmgroup post was issued shortly thereafter. This is why that group is not
on many servers out there. Most news admins configure their servers to
auto process newgroup and rmgroup msgs for the alt.* hierarchy.

As for hosting it somewhere, who would be willing to do so? You don't
really want to open up a server to posting from just anyone, even if it is
just to one group. Perhaps a web-based read only interface would be doable
but even then we've got deja.com for that... *shrug*

Part of the reason I've posted this here is because part of the process of
creating a new alt group should be to generate some interest in the
already exisiting community(ies) beforehand. If you like, I can be sure to
notify the list when the group has been created so you can look for it on
your local news server or request it be added by your admin. Most ISPs
have a 'news,' 'usenet,' or 'support' alias that you can contact for such
purposes.
