I looked at www.kernal.org and there is nothing about a 2.2.17 -- 
only 2.2.16 stable and then 2.4 beta... can I assume that 2.2.16 
stable means just that?  Stable?  Or should I just scrap the idea 
and wait till there's an official release of the 2.4.x ??
