In my windows days, I used norton ghost on a regular basis. I am looking for a free
alternative supporting ext2fs

for those of you unfamiliar with ghost, here are the features which it has that I
need/like:
*spans media such as floppies or zip disks
*resize partitions at restoration time
*even on an unformatted hard drive, I can boot dos w/ a floppy, then fire up ghost
from another flopp and restore a disk image
*even backed up mbr

I used to back up, spanning zip disks, then put contents of all of the disks on a
cdr. I could then back up from the cdr.

summary of needs:
1 step back up
1 step restore
span media
will not be corrupted by putting on a iso cdr.
will be able to retore a drive that has become to screwed to even boot to linux (can
never be to safe)

I am sure many of you already have a tool in mind. Let me know which one works for
you, and which one will work for me. I am still quite new to linux.
