If you choose a dialup ISP, you might pick a national like AT&T if you
expect to operate from more than one locale. You don't get the full value
of AOL when you run Linux - their big selling point is ease of use, which
only obtains on Windoze machines (and not even NT or 2K IIRC). (I shouldn't
really point that out, since I have family working there).
