Just wanted to let you guys know that I got the problem taken care of.
It appears that though I was selecting the "linear" option under advanced in
the LILO setup during the install, the option was not being set. I booted
off the disk, mounted my root partition and executed
lilo -l
I removed the install media, rebooted, and PRESTO!! (hurray!).
Thanks to all of you offered advice. This has really been a learning
process. I now know a little more than when I started.
I am going to download hail and install it tonight. So far I'm REALLY liking
Storm/Debian.
