I reported a problem a couple weeks ago that the program /bin/loadkeys was
failing to work due to an error: "unable to load qwerty-layout". I'm happy
to report that I found a work-around to the problem.
the problem is the default.keymap.gz file in /etc/kbd/ was looking for the
include file "qwerty-layout.inc.gz" but unable to find it. The reason is the
file in question is sitting in /usr/share/keymaps/i386/include and my /usr
volume is not yet mounted as I have it as a separate partition and /usr is
not mounted at this point in the startup process.
The solution was to copy the necessary include files to /etc/kbd/ and all is
well. no more errors about this on startup.
Thought I would mention it here in case anyone else has had similar
problems.
