Some time ago I updated to hail, potato and the helix gnome. Since
that update, I have not been able to get gnome to start, with neither
gdm or startx. I have tried removing then re-installing gdm,
task-helix-core, sawfish, etc. with no results. Before this, I would
get kde with gdm (after the penguin login). Now, on startup, gdm
complains that gdm.conf doesn't exist and dies. Startx still brings up
KDE. /etc/gdm/Sessions/Default is a link to Debian, which isn't
there. I put 'gnome-session' in /etc/X11/Xsession.options, to no
avail.

I think what happens is that gdm brings the penguin login up, then dies
and KDE takes over.

Thanks in advance,

Jim
