Are you sure you have pppoe and not just a DHCP connection??
Something here just doesn't sound right but I cannot put a finger on it??

Try one of the pppoe news groups for assistance, I'm sorry but I don't have enough
experience with pppoe to give any direction to your problem. Can just help with the
basics.
