Carl; you kick serious ass.  I thought that that last entry was stupid,
since unix/:7100 didn't jive with anything on my system.  But then gdm
didn't choke on it, and Storm had set up XF86Config, so I didn't know
what to think.  Blackbox now starts up nicely.  It's so nice and minimal
:)
