I can't answer you directly on this, but what I'd do is; run man diff
and read it to leard about diff output, then read the diff file and
try to figure out if the differences are not too great, and that they're
mainly additions.  If so, I'd do whatever it is that applies a diff to
the version you want to include your code, or if I couldn't find out how
to do that, I'd hand edit the new code to match the diff file (or, maybe,
I'd give up and wait for a working release ;-)
