Sound was working fine last time I needed it about 2 days ago.
Today I tried to play an *.mpg with sound and it locked the system up.
I have not seen it lock like this before. I have locked up X, and then
just ctrl+alt+F1 to a terminal and shutdown -r now. But this lockup
would not let me ctrl+alt+F1! I just ignored it and deleted the .mpg
file. ( I am assuming this .mpg file had audio, see below)
I just tried xmms, and upon hitting 'play' the ''complete system lock"
occured. Hard power off, try running command cat file > /dev/dsp,
complete system lock, hard power off again. This time I tried cat file
> /dev/audio, this time I heard a quick (5 ms) blurb from the speakers,
the a message about my sound blaster being detected fine and then
lockup. Power off. Search net for answer. Write Storm user list.
Cross fingers. Go to bed.
Why would it all of a sudden start doing this????????
