check out freshmeat.net. They even have a section on X11 file managers. I agree,
Nautilus is just too much for me. Konqy is the same deal. The old kde 1.12 file
manager is just about right, but alas it will not run w/o kde.
I spent an entire night testing pretty much everything freshmeat had to offer. The
best x file manager I found was gentoo. But it's custom configuration was buggy, and
layout not exactly what I wanted. It may be what you want though. The best one that
I found was good ol' mc (midnight commander).
Don't shoot me but... The only thing I miss about Windows is the 'Windows Explorer'.
It had a great layout, D&D functionality, good right click menu, not to bulky, etc...
