Well if you check /boot/config* you'll see that CONFIG_APM is not
set.So you have to d/l kernel-source and compile a new kernel.
Then you can change to CONFIG_APM=y. If you use the source for
kernel 2.2.18 you can also unset the APM disable by default.If you use a
version <2.2.18 you will also have to change lilo.conf and add a line
append="apm=on".
