Cool, I think I got it. At first I used
ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/potato/main/binary-386/
which didn't work but the output log (on screen!) showed
that it was tacking everything after debian.org/debian
again, and comparing with the other stormix addresses
in the list I put
ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian
and it works
I really like the UI for the stormix package manager,
although it took me a while to figure out how to
click to alternate from uninstall to install.
