Okay, I compiled the kernel using the instructions on the Debian site.
Things seem to be going well until the end, after I ran:
fakeroot make-kpkg --revision=custom1.0 kernel_image
...but got the following problems:
make[2]: as86: Command not found
make[2]: *** [bbootsect.o] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory
'/usr/local/src/kernel-source-2.2.18pre21/arch/i386/boot'
make[1]: ***[bzImage] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/src/kernel-source-2.2.18pre21'
make: *** [stamp-build] Error 2
Does anyone know what I did wrong?
