I want to thank those individuals for the quick response of helpful information for learning Debian Linux. I've seen the book, "Linux System Commands" at Borders Book Store and have thumbed through it. It is a definite get. "Learning the Bash Shell" was recommended by Roy. It is also a book I intend to purchase. I appreciate the information sites and links you've provided. When I went to the November Comdex show here in Las Vegas, I was interested in learning more about linux. The first distribution I visited at the Linux Pavillion was TurboLinux. I asked a couple of questions and the Turbo Rep indicated the best distribution for the desktop was Storm. That was reinforced by several other reps saying the same thing. Their emphasis was networking and preferred not dealing with a single desktop user. Nonetheless, they said Storm was outstanding for newbies to linux and for desktop use. I will be interested to see how many linux distributors will be at next year's Comdex show in Las Vegas. Philosophically, I appreciate the freedom approach of the linux community, but in practical terms I find the 'marketplace' inhospitable to the many distributions that exist. It is too bad Stormix wasn't or isn't able to forge a partnership with a major computer business like some of the other linux distributors. Perhaps Storm is not dead, but just regrouping for another front. I'll get off the soapbox. Again, thanks for your help. I appreciate it greatly. _______________________________________________ Stormlinux-users-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.stormix.com/community/lists/listinfo/stormlinux-users-list
