I hust rebooted my linux box which has been functioning perfectly well
prior to this. This is the error message I got a t boot up during the
root fs check:
fsck.ext2: no such file or directory when trying to open d/dev/hda1
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
fs. If the device is valid and if it really contains an ext2 fs (not
swap or ufs or something else) the superblock is corrupt. and you might
try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 -b <device>
fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. Please note that the
root fs is currently mounted read only. To remount it read-write
#mount -n -o remount, rw /
CTRL-D will reboot or
Give root password for maintenance:
****
I tried running "e2fsck -b 8193 -b /dev/hda1" like the message said, but
I get this error:
e2fsck: Bad magic number while trying to open super-block on /dev/hda1
This f@#ing hard drive is only 3 weeks old!!!!!!
Desperately needing help.
Thanks.
