Cliff Jones commented on STS-853:
---------------------------------

Thank you Ben. I'd like to address a couple points brought up by John and
yourself.

1. John: I did not indiscriminately use all caps and bold all caps as you
charge. Capitiliazation, bolding and italics were used selectively to
emphasize what had previously been missed, overlooked, and ignored. Basically
I was restating the original issue. I felt I had to change my approach because
not using visual clues was not getting the attention of the reader. What is
the quote? "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting
different results."

2. John: I would love to contribute to Stripes. Yes, it's probably less than 1
hour of work. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that timeframe you specify does
not include setup, configuration, and testing time since I currently don't have
a working Stripes development environment. I, (which I suspect Ben does as
well) have a "real" job which has imposes serious demands on my limited time.
One often has to make decisions where any spare time is spent: Work, or family?

3. Ben, I appreciate the effort you are expending on maintaining Stripes, and
would like to participate. After Feb 1st I should be able to carve out some
time to set up a working development environment but would need somone to
assist me if I have questions getting up and running.

Again, thank you for the feedback.

> The invalid <optgroup> tag is generated using <stripes:options-collection>
> tag when "partial" attribute is used within a <stripes:form> tag.
> (reformatted for readability)
> <select id="cboSupervisor" name="criteria.supervisor" class="DropBox"
> onchange="supervisorSelected(this);">
> <option value="">--- All ---</option>
> <optgroup label="Active" />
> <option value="204230">Bartlett, Roberta</option>
> <option value="306796">Beasley, Teresa</option>
> <option value="237550">Bersch, Alisha</option>
> <optgroup label="Retired" />
> <option value="251149">Acting TL, Ohm</option>
> <option value="155878">Auer, Kimberly</option>
> </select>
> The invalid use of non-body optgroup element results in the browser (IE)
> *not* providing the indentation for options belonging to that group when the
> select is replaced in the DOM via Ajax.
> Note: The CORRECT output is:
> <select id="cboSupervisor" name="criteria.supervisor" class="DropBox"
> onchange="supervisorSelected(this);">
> <option value="">--- All ---</option>
> <optgroup label="Active" >
> <option value="204230">Bartlett, Roberta</option>
> <option value="306796">Beasley, Teresa</option>
> <option value="237550">Bersch, Alisha</option>
> </optgroup>
> <optgroup label="Retired" >
> <option value="251149">Acting TL, Ohm</option>
> <option value="155878">Auer, Kimberly</option>
> </optgroup>
> </select>
