My current plan is to remove the deprecated syntax in 1.1. What that actually means
is that as soon as we branch
the CVS repository (probably after 1.0-beta-2) the old stuff will be pruned out of the
1.1 development branch.
Part of the reason for this timing is to detect any cases where 1.0 code is
incorrectly relying on deprecated
features, so that a fix for that can occur before 1.0 final.
