The parent tab should remain the same - is it not doing this? The
selected tab is determined in tabs.js by matching the URL and if that
doesn't work it uses a cookie that's set when you click on the link.
You could manipulate the logic for submenu items so that the cookie is
the one referring to the parent tab.
