Obviously it was me, though I still do not know what. I started over and
again took everything from your example project and it now appears to be
working, I just do not know why...

I was asking about a doc type because I was trying an online validator and
it complained. I am still confident it is valid XML, b/c Eclipse should
complain if it is not (it does when I intentionally make it invalid).
I will try to take a look at AppFuse.
