I think it's typical that most Un*x implementations of browsers don't 'behave as nicely' with regard to JavaScript features as do Windows browsers.
Why? I don't know - seems to be a fact of life. It's not struts though - it's the browser. I don't like this either. However, javascript is there for convenience and should be no substitute for server-side validation. My answer is always be sure you validate on the server-side even if everything should have already been validated on the client. Does anyone else have additional input?
