But ServiceLocator uses Singleton. Have a look the following link at page 126 http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/Books/j2ee/dpa/j2ee_dpa_Ch3.pdf
Here the author is talking about an object that doesn't need to be singleton. That is the difference. At least as i understood it :)
