Retrieving messages from resource bundle

Hi there! I know I can retrieve messages using the <bean:message> tag. But 
I need to put it inside another third party tag, so It's not working, I 
tried to use <bean:define name="message" id="msg" > but did not work. Any 
other way? How do I access it using scriptlets?
