Well, if they use pkg-config e.g. to get GTK2, they also get the proper rpath flags. I thought libtool would handle that as well, but I might be wrong on that. It should be noted that the rpath way is the most portable solution, e.g. most other dynamic linkage schemes have similiar mechanisms. ldconfig is basically a relict from a.out days. Joerg
