That must mean it concluded the file it did find and open wasn't a suitable plugin. Please run qtplugininfo on it: qtplugininfo /Volumes/Subsurface-4.4.96/Subsurface.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/libGrantlee_Templates.5.dylib Something in that metadata told QtCore that this isn't a suitable plugin.
