No, your terminology was correct the first time. (that's why ext3 is  
called a "journaling filesystem")

I don't think the logic is sound , however. ext3 uses a journal for  
the prevention of exactly these types of problems. You're more likely  
to get such a failure using ext2, since it has no record of what it  
was doing when it crashed.
