The correct way to do the gtk3 branch is creating a new branch called sugar-0.94 and following the Gtk3 port in the master branch. If you make a new branch called gtk3, I'm not sure in which branch do you want to be applied the Gtk3 Port patch.
About the tabs patch, I have to make it again with the new corrections to the Gtk3 port, then I'll send it.
