Gstreamer 0.10 is part of what I'm calling gtk2 toolkit, it's not completely accurate but we have been using than terminology. So it seems we are going to run into the issue of gtk2 toolkit pieces disappearing earlier then I expected.
I think you can move to gst 1.0 only if you already ported to gtk3.
