this is basically the idea behind simpla
<https://sumo.dlr.de/docs/Simpla.html#configuration> platooning in SUMO.
You are bound to using the Python TraCI interface then as simpla is build
upon it.

Hello,
Is that possible to choose different car-following model parameters in SUMO
based on the type of leader vehicle: for example if a Manual vehicle
follows a Manual vehicle tau is a, if a Manual vehicle follows an automated
vehicle tau is b, if an automated vehicle follows a Manual vehicle tau is
c, and if an automated vehicle follows an automated vehicle tau is d.
