I still have questions though... lots of them, so please bear with me.
I downloaded the road network of athens, Greece from OSM and tried to
convert it to a sumo net using netconvert and some popular(?) options:
netconvert –osm-files Athens.osm.xml –remove-edges.by-vclass pedestrian
–junctions.join –geometry.remove –ramps.guess –tls.join –v –proj.utm
–remove-edges.isolated –roundabouts.guess –no-turnarounds.tls
–street-sign-output bgsigns –output.street-names –output.original-names –o
bgathens.sumo.net.xml –plain-output-prefix bgathens –log bgathens
The log file produced, contains a lot of warnings and some errors that I
fail to interpret and correct. Maybe you can provide some -much needed-
help. I provide a few "samples" below:
1. Warning: Discarding unusable type "railway.funicular" (first occurence
for edge "30481095").
2. Warning: Ignoring restriction relation '1298718' with unknown to-way.
Warning: direction of restriction relation could not be determined.
3. Warning: Removed a road without junctions: -101386907.
4. Warning: Not joining junctions
1000840871,1000840899,353788273,353788274,807999811 because the
cluster is too complex (7 incoming edges).
5. Error: Could not set connection from '220626107#11_3' to
'220626107#13_1'.
6. Warning: Found angle of 120.15 degrees at edge -101001097#0, segment 1.
7. Warning: Found sharp turn with radius 7.49 at the start of edge
-129318379.
8. Warning: For node '1459106701': could not compute shape.
9. Warning: Junction shape for '2148529082' has distance 23.56 to its given
position.
10. Warning: The traffic light '1005855007' does not control any links; it
will not be build.
Warning: Could not build program '0' for traffic light '1005855007'.
11. Warning: Splitting vector close to end (pos: 0.04, length: 0.08).
I have several of those and would like to know what they mean and whether
and how these types of warnings/errors affect a traffic simulation and how
I can improve on them either with different netconvert options or manually.
